Suspicious death investigation
Case 15485990

The Calgary Police Service is currently investigating a suspicious death after a body was found in the northwest.

At approximately 9 a.m., on Sunday, Nov. 15, 2015, police were called to reports of a body that had been located in an alleyway in the 400 block of Hendon Drive N.W.
The body is that of a man, but an age is not known at this time.

At this time, this death is not believed to be connected to the recent violence seen in Calgary.

Shooting – seeking public assistance
Case #15485188 

The Calgary Police Service is seeking public assistance in locating a man responsible for a shooting.

At approximately 5 p.m., on Saturday, Nov. 14, 2015, a man entered a barber shop located in the 5100 block of 20 Avenue S.E. He engaged a customer in a quick conversation before pulling a gun and shooting him.

Despite attempts by CPS members to conduct CPR, the victim was declared deceased at the scene.

After the shooting, it is believed the suspect got into a silver SUV and fled the scene.

Police believe this was a targeted attack linked to an ongoing dispute between gangs connected to the drug trade. The victim was known to police.

Following the shooting, police engaged in suppression activities in an attempt to reduce further retaliatory offences.

Assault on a youth
Case #15340249 

The Calgary Police Service is seeking public assistance to identify a group of individuals believed to be involved in an assault.

On the evening of Thursday, Aug. 13, 2015, a male youth attended a house party with friends at a residence in the 0 to 100 block of Hamptons Circle N.W. At approximately 12:30 a.m., on Friday, Aug. 14, 2015, the youth accompanied a friend to her home in the area.

While walking back to the house party, the youth was approached by a group of four to six males. The group confronted the youth and assaulted him, leaving the victim unconscious on the ground. It is believed the attack was hate/bias motivated.

The victim came to after an unknown amount of time and was able to obtain help from a resident in the 200 block of Hamptons Terrace N.W., who contacted 9-1-1. Police attended and EMS transported the victim to hospital in stable condition.

The offenders are described as a group of four to six males. The group included both Caucasian and black individuals believed to be between the ages of 15 and 20. It is believed the offenders may have attended the same house party as the victim earlier in the evening.

Homicide – Crime Stoppers re-enactment
Case #15285663  

A Crime Stoppers re-enactment took place, on Friday, Nov. 13, 2015, to encourage members of the public to come forward with information relating to a homicide that occurred in July.

At approximately 3:45 a.m., on Saturday, July 11, 2015, police responded to a call that multiple shots were heard in the 5300 block of Rundlehorn Drive N.E. Police found a vehicle with two occupants inside, both of whom had gunshot wounds.

One man was confirmed deceased at the scene and the other was taken to hospital in critical condition.

Following an autopsy by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, the deceased has been identified as Steven SHARDA, 20, of Calgary. SHARDA died as a result of the shooting.
The second victim is continuing to recover from his injuries and is cooperating with investigators.

Police believe that several people were involved in the incident and are hoping that one or more will come forward and assist police.

This incident is not thought to be random.
