- In the early morning hours of July 2, 1917, Constable Arthur Duncan was walking beat duty and was near the intersection of 8 Avenue & 8 Street SW. Cst. Duncan accidentally stumbled across one or more suspects recovering their stolen property underneath the Revelstoke Lumber Co. One of the suspects, shot Cst. Duncan with a Colt .45 revolver, the same one thought to be reported stolen from a pawn shop the night before. Cst. Duncan was killed, but likely never realized what happened as the incident occurred so quickly. A $1000 cash reward was offered, but no suspect was ever found.
