What We Do With Your Information?

Helping You Stay Anonymous. Helping Our Community Stay Safe.

How we handle the information you give us

At Calgary Crime Stoppers, your safety, privacy, and anonymity are our top priorities. We understand that coming forward with information about crime can be difficult. That’s why we’ve built a system that protects your identity 100% of the time and we mean it.

Whether you’re reporting a drug house, theft, fraud, a suspicious person, or any other criminal activity, you can trust us to never ask who you are. Here’s how we handle the information you give us and what happens next.

1. You Always Stay Anonymous

When you contact Calgary Crime Stoppers:

  • We do not record phone calls.
  • We do not trace IP addresses.
  • We do not collect personal information.
  • You’re given a unique tip ID and password that allows you to follow up or check on the status of your tip.
  • You remain anonymous, whether you submit a tip online, by phone, or through the P3 Tips app.

We don’t want to know who you are only what you know.

2. We Log the Crime Tip, Not Your Identity

Once your information is submitted:

  • Our trained team reviews your tip and sanitizes it to remove anything that might accidentally identify you.
  • Your tip is assigned a reference number. This is the only way to track the tip or check on eligibility for a reward.
  • We will never contact you for more information unless you reach out first, using your tip ID.
  • This ID number will identify your tip for any future inquiries you may wish to make in following up the status of your tip or even adding details that you may become aware of.

    3. Your Tip is Shared Securely with Investigators

    After we assess your submission:

    • We pass the information to the relevant law enforcement agency, such as Calgary Police Service, RCMP, or another appropriate agency.
    • Law enforcement may use your information to support ongoing investigations or to start a new one.
    • Police do not know who you are and cannot trace your tip back to you.

Our secure communication channels protect your anonymity at every stage.

    4. You Can Follow Up Anonymously

Using your tip ID and password:

    • You can log back into our system to add more information here.
    • You can see if your tip led to an arrest or charges.
    • If your tip qualifies for a reward, you will be informed without ever giving your name or ID.

    5. You May Be Eligible for a Cash Reward

If your information leads to an arrest, charge, or recovery of property, you may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $2,000. Here’s how it works:

    • Rewards are approved by the Calgary Crime Stoppers Board.
    • Payment is made through a secure, anonymous method, you’ll never be asked for your identity.
    • You decide whether to claim your reward or not.

    Our Commitment To You

Thank you for helping make Calgary a safer place

We are a community-based, not-for-profit organization. Calgary Crime Stoppers exists to bridge the gap between the public and law enforcement, by offering a secure, anonymous channel for reporting crime. Your tip can prevent violence, save lives, or stop criminal activity before it happens.

We don’t need your name just your information.

Thank you for helping make Calgary a safer place to live, work, and raise a family.
